The Green Stuff!

This is my mother's recipe for Green Stuff! It is a family recipe that we have always made for special occasions. All the kids love it, well except the boy who normally eats anything go figure! lol We usually serve it with Maraschino cherries and pecans to garnish!

Ingredients:
(2) 24oz containers of small curd cottage cheese
(2) 16oz cans Crushed Pineapple, drained
(2) 8oz containers of Cool Whip
(3) pckgs Sugar-Free Lime Jello(use Sugar free because the regular Jello's granules are too large and it will taste funny!)

***This is a double recipe***

Directions:
Thaw out the cool whip first until you are able to stir it this is very important!!! Combine the cottage cheese, drained cans of pineapple, cool whip and mix well. Add the Jello pckgs be careful to make sure the Jello is mixed well. Refrigerate for at least 3hrs and then serve! :)

PhotoHunt: Metal

This week's theme for PhotoHunt is Metal. So I decided to use these pictures that I took of old farming equipment on display at the Botanical Gardens. I took these pictures while we were there for T-man's birthday during the DinoLand Exhibit! I always find old stuff interesting and thinking about how things used to be really makes me glad I live now! lol

The Thankful Tree!

Here is this year's Thankful Tree! We had a lot more leaves this year than last year so things are a bit jumbled up, but we had a wonderful time putting it together! This year we added a few extra touches that we have not done in previous years. Like Princess added the "Happy Thanksgiving" blimp, Spunky added the little squirrel coming out of the hole in the tree and the boy added the scary little dragon down at the bottom trying to burn down the tree! lol

Materials:
Glue
Scissors
Markers
Poster board
Colored pencils
Construction paper

Instructions:
Each person traces their hand multiple times on construction paper. Of course all in Fall colors and then we cut out all the hands(we usually do 3hands per person in each color)! After all the hands are cut out then we write something we are thankful for on each of our hands. Then draw a tree trunk and branches if you would like on a piece of poster board and decorate how you like. Then just glue all the hands to cover the tree as if they were leaves.

I like to make a few look like they are falling from the tree since it is the Fall! There you go you have a Thankful Tree made out of all the things you and your family are thankful for this holiday season!

Here is the link back to last year's tree! :)

Things you can only say at Thanksgiving! lol

1. Talk about a huge breast!

2. Tying the legs together keeps the inside moist.

3. It's Cool Whip time!

4. If I don't undo my pants, I'll burst!

5. Whew, that's one terrific spread!

6. I'm in the mood for dark meat.

7. Are you ready for seconds yet?

8. It's a little dry, do you still want to eat it?

9. Just wait your turn, you'll get some.

10. Don't play with your meat.

11. Just spread the legs open and stuff it in.

12. Do you think you'll be able to handle all these people at once?

13. I didn't expect everyone to come at once!

14. You still have a little bit on your chin.

15. How long will it take after you stick it in?

16. You'll know it's ready when it pops up.

17. Wow, I didn't think I could handle all of that!

18. That's the biggest one I've ever seen!

19. How long do I beat it before it's ready?

Happy Thanksgiving!!

May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

Thanksgiving sky: Jupiter, Venus, moon together!

I think this is really neat and had to re-post it here! If you are at all interested in Science or outer space you may just need to get out your binoculars or telescope November 27th through December 1st!

"It's not just families that are getting together this Thanksgiving week. The three brightest objects in the night sky — Venus, Jupiter and a crescent moon — will crowd around each other for an unusual group shot.

Starting Thanksgiving evening, Jupiter and Venus will begin moving closer so that by Sunday and Monday, they will appear 2 degrees apart, which is about a finger width held out at arm's length, said Alan MacRobert, senior editor at Sky and Telescope magazine. Then on Monday night, they will be joined by a crescent moon right next to them, he said.

Look in the southwestern sky around twilight — no telescope or binoculars needed. The show will even be visible in cities if it's a clear night.

"It'll be a head-turner," MacRobert said. "This certainly is an unusual coincidence for the crescent moon to be right there in the days when they are going to be closest together."

The moon is the brightest, closest and smallest of the three and is 252,000 miles away. Venus, the second brightest, closest and smallest, is 94 million miles away. And big Jupiter is 540 million miles away.

The three celestial objects come together from time to time, but often they are too close to the sun or unite at a time when they aren't so visible. The next time the three will be as close and visible as this week will be Nov. 18, 2052, according to Jack Horkheimer, director of the Miami Space Transit Planetarium.

But if you are willing to settle for two out of three — Venus and the crescent moon only — it will happen again on New Year's Eve, MacRobert said."

10 Things I Hate about City Driving or Just Plain Driving in General!

The motivation for this post is the outrageous amount of times this last week that I have almost been involved in an accident because of somebody not paying attention or just plain being stupid! Please read this list with some humor because I am not trying to say I am not guilty of some of these things, just that they drive me crazy! lol

I hope you enjoy! ;)

1. Drivers who drive all the way up in the right-hand turn ONLY lane just to try to merge to the left so they can get in front of all the other traffic! I have this issue a lot as I drive through a major intersection every morning and afternoon at 5o'clock traffic! Man, it is seriously driving me bananas!!

2. Drivers in huge trucks with tons of clearance that turn into parking lots at 1 mph!

3. Drivers who do not use their turn signals!

4. People who do not know how to use on-ramps and access roads properly!

5. People who talk on their cell phones while driving!

6. Kids who are not properly buckled into safety seats or who are not wearing seat belts at all!

7. Drivers who left lane hog!

8. Really old people! Now this does not mean all old people, just the ones who obviously should not be driving anymore or old people who should not be driving and are on the cell phone! Like the lady who almost killed the kids and I on Wednesday!!

9. Drivers who are just plain inconsiderate!

10. Women who put on makeup while driving! Seriously why would you want to put yourself at risk for poking your eye out?!

So What drives you crazy while driving?

Monday Morning Meme

1. Thanksgiving is this week! Where are you going? Besides eating, what do you do on Thanksgiving? Do you have any family traditions you’d like to share with us? Don’t forget to take pictures! (You’ll be asked to show them next Monday! This will also prove handy for Coffee Chat!)

We are going across the street to grandma's house for this year's Thanksgiving dinner. Mom and I are splitting the meal. She is making the Turkey, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes and dessert and I am making the yams, green bean casserole, ham, corn on the cob and stuffing.

One of our traditions is to make a Thankful Tree each Thanksgiving. It is really easy to make to see how and to see our tree from last year click here ! We all really enjoy making this craft and we will be making ours on Wednesday!

2. What is your favorite gadget? Why is it your favorite? If money was not an object, what gadget would you buy for yourself?

Hummm my favorite gadget is my computer, my friends live on it! lol If money was not an object I would buy a Wii! I want one so badly, but cannot justify the cost!

3. You’ve been chosen to be a contestant on “Survivor” and you leave in 6 weeks. How will you spend the next 6 weeks to prepare for the challenge?

OMG I would never be on "Survivor" to begin with, but if I was gosh I would need to start working out ASAP!! lol I would also need to start mentality preparing myself for the crap you go through on that show. Although I have only watched it a few times so I guess watching reruns would be a good idea!

4. How many times a week do you visit the ATM machine? Do you normally carry a lot of cash? How often do you use credit cards? Are you pretty good at paying off your balance every month? How do you control your credit card spending?

I do not ever visit the ATM because I do not have a bank account. I do not carry around a lot of cash just what I need for the purchases I am getting at the moment. I have a prepaid credit card so I do not use it often maybe three times a month. I have to pay off the balance because it is prepaid so if I want to use it again, I have to pay it off! I control my spending by having a prepaid credit card!

So since I am idealess today

here is a joke my mom sent me yesterday! lol

Jane and Arlene are outside their nursing home, having a drink and a smoke, when it starts to rain. Jane pulls out a condom, cuts off the end, puts it over her cigarette, and continues smoking.

Arlene: "What in the hell is that?"

Jane: "A condom. This way my cigarette doesn't get wet."

Arlene: "Where did you get it?"

Jane: "You can get them at any drugstore."

The next day, Arlene hobbles into the local drugstore and announces to the pharmacist that she wants a box of condoms.

The pharmacist, obviously curious, looks at her kind of strangely (she is after all, over 80), but very delicately asks what brand of condom she prefers.

Arlene: "It doesn't matter Sonny, as long as it fits on a Camel."

LMAO!!!

A man kills a deer and takes it home to cook for dinner.

Both he and his wife decide that they won't tell the kids what kind of meat it is, but will give them a clue and let them guess.

The kids were eager to know what the meat was on their plates, so they begged their dad for the clue.

Well, he said, 'It's what mommy calls me sometimes'.

The little girl screams to her brother..............

"Don't eat it, it's an asshole!"

Our poor little guy!

Early this morning Jeremy got a phone call from T-Man's biological momma letting us know that he was not going to be coming over this weekend! :( She spent most of last night at the ER with him because he was having trouble breathing and could not stop coughing. Turns out he has Whooping cough, poor little guy!

I was really looking forward to him being here this weekend, we had many fun activities planned. Well we will just have him put his hands on the Thankful Tree this next weekend when he is here, although I really wish he was here when we do the project this weekend. I hope he feels better soon please send him get well vibes ladies!

I have been tagged with a bloggy award! :)

I want to thank my bloggy friend Sheila for tagging me with this sweet award! :)
“And lovely are the blossoms
That are tended with great care,
By those who work unselfishly
To make the place more fair.
And, like the garden blossoms,
Friendship’s flower grows more sweet
When watched and tended carefully
By those we know and meet.
And, if the seed of friendship
Is planted deep and true
And watched with understanding,
Friendship’s flower will bloom for you. “

I am tagging the seven bloggy friends below because I find their blogs to be interesting, fun and they always give me a new way to look at things which is something I love. :) I am tagging in no particular order BeccA from BeccA's Buzz, Melody from Slurping Life, Carrie from Chocolate the Other White Meat, Karen from Write From Karen, Lisa from From Under The Laundry Heap, Dee from Just This One Life and Bridget from "And Miles To Go Before We Sleep".

::Start copying here::
Here are the rules for this tag:
1.) Copy the badge and put it on your blog,
2.) Link back to who passed you this tag,
3.) Spread this tag to at least 7 bloggers who you think you are bloggy friends with.

Bedtime?

I have an issue with going to bed at a decent hour as you can tell by the time of most of my posts! I honestly do not want to go to bed early or even at the right time whatever that might be........ lol I have many reasons for staying up later than I should. Some of them include wanting time for myself after the kids go to bed, staying up late to get booty(hehehe), getting side tracked with a good movie or playing my game, blogging cause I get my best ideas late at night etc etc...

So I was wondering why do you stay up late? Do you stay up most nights or are you a early to bed early to rise kinda person? Do you have any advice for me to help change my ways so I can try to crash earlier? Any advice appreciated! :)

Give Me Five Monday Meme #41

This week's topic for Give Me Five Monday is:

"Give Me Five staples on your grocery list besides milk, bread and eggs."

1. Fresh or Canned Jalapenos: for the boys! lol

2. Frozen Burritos: as bad as they are we have them as snacks often with salsa and cheese.

3. Bananas: cause the girls love them and can never get enough.

4. Canned beans: all of the kiddos love beans and they are a great source of protein and cheap.

5. Cottage cheese: this is a big one in our house. The kids have it as a snack regularly with fruit, tomatoes or just salt and pepper.

Monday Morning Meme

1. How is burping seen in your family? Is it rude? Humorous? Applauded? And do you ignore it, apologize or hide it? Okay, same questions for farting. (Come on, don’t be shy! We’ve all done it!)

LOL! This is a great question! :) In our house it is not viewed as rude to fart or burp unless it is at the dinner table! If you are sitting at the table we ask that you get up and at least go out of the room or to the bathroom to burp or fart! Most of the time we all laugh really hard and tease the one who dealt it, which is normally Princess! Man that girl can really let out a nasty and loud fart! lol We do of course expect the person who farted or burped to say "Excuse me", but that is about it!

2. How long was it from your first date until the proposal of marriage? How long until the wedding? What do you think the shortest amount of time is acceptable between the first date and being engaged and getting married?

We are not currently married and no serious proposal has been made so hum I guess I cannot answer the first or second questions! lol As far as how long I think is acceptable between the first date and getting engaged........I think some people know as early as 6months, but I think more like a year to 18months is a good time frame! As far as the time frame between the engagement and getting married that depends on a bunch of factors. Some include how long you have been dating, have you been living together, what your moral values and religious beliefs are etc etc.. I think 6months to a year is a good time frame for the time between getting engaged and having the ceremony.

3. What do you have in your glove compartment? Show us a picture!

Oh my gosh I have a mismatch of all kinds of things in my glove compartment! Off the top of my head without going to look I would say there is a First Aid Kit, the two books I am trying to read, tire gauge, razor, map, pens, notepad, my little zipper pouch with all kinds of stuff, roll of toilet paper, toothpicks and a hairbrush.

4. Which do you dislike most: pop-up ads or spam email? Do you think either “marketing” strategy is more effective than the other? Have you ever clicked on a pop-up ad or followed through with a spam email? What was the result?

Oh gosh I have to choose!?! Hummm I am gonna go with spam email because it has caused me the most trouble!
As far as the marketing strategy I think it is BS I am not clicking on much less buying anything from a pop up or spam email!! I have in the past clicked on pop ups with of course bad results usually I get some kind of virus or Trojan just depends. As far as spam email I have fallen for them on occasion, but never had any major effects!

Just this last week I was having issues with not receiving certain emails. I noticed that readers were leaving comments, but that I would not receive an email notifying me like I normally did. Also there were several important emails that just did not get to me so it had me thinking! By chance I accidentally clicked spam on one of the emails I needed and so I went to the spam folder to retrieve it. This is something I never do I usually just empty the spam folder without looking at the contents! Well there I found all the emails I had been looking for and more I had no idea were in there! I was NOT a happy camper and I still have no idea how or why those emails were filtered to the spam folder!!

BlizzCon2008

While reading through Yahoo News earlier today I started reading about BlizzCon2008. I really get a kick out of how in depth people get with their costumes when going to an event such as this. It must take a lot of time and effort to make some of the outfits they come dressed in!

Now I know that Trekkies spend a lot of time dressing up for Star Trek Conventions, but never had I heard of another group of people that put so much effort into something of this sort! I love it and if I had the time and money I would so be there dressed as my favorite World Of Warcraft character with Hammerhawk at my side!! :) LOL

Here are some pictures of BlizzCon that I thought were just awesome:

A Night Elf Priest and a Blood Elf Priest:
Two cute Draenei chicas:
A Blood Elf Hunter:
Not sure but I am thinking a Night Elf or Human/Warlock or Mage:
He has too be a Gnome Warlock:
Blood Elf Priest:
Blood Elf Posse:
Best Costume winner riding on an animatronic Turtle! lol

PhotoHunt: Ruin(ed)

This weeks theme for PhotoHunt is Ruin(ed) so I decided to use these photos of our old RV Park in Ruidoso, NM after the flood this year. My parents owned this RV Park 96'-04' my little brother pretty much grew up there so to see it in this much disarray was hard for me.

I cannot take credit for these pictures they were taken by residents in Ruidoso during the flood that took place earlier this year after Hurricane Gustave in August.

In remembrance of all the Veterans and those who currently serve!

Thank you for all that you do and have done!

Why boys need MOTHERS........

A friend of mine posted this on our mommy forum Our Mom Spot and it was just too funny not to pass on! I hope you all enjoy!! :)

And lastly and my personal favorite!!!
And you also find out interesting things when you have sons, like...

1.) A king size water bed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq. ft. house 4 inches deep.

2.) If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with roller blades, they can ignite.

3.) A 3-year old Boy's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.

4.) If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42 pound Boy wearing Batman underwear and a Superman cape. It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spread paint on all four walls of a 20x20 ft. room.

5.) You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on. When using a ceiling fan as a bat, you have to throw the ball up a few times before you get a hit. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.

6.) The glass in windows (even double-pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan.

7.) When you hear the toilet flush and the words 'uh oh', it's already too late.

8.) Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it.

9.) A six-year old Boy can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36-year old Man says they can only do it in the movies.

10.) Certain Lego's will pass through the digestive tract of a 4-year old Boy.

11.) Play dough and microwave should not be used in the same sentence.

12.) Super glue is forever.

13.) No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still can't walk on water.

14.) Pool filters do not like Jell-O.

15.) VCR's do not eject 'PB & J' sandwiches even though TV commercials show they do.

16.) Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.

17.) Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.

18.) You probably DO NOT want to know what that odor is.

19.) Always look in the oven before you turn it on plastic toys do not like ovens.

20.) The fire department in Austin , TX has a 5-minute response time.

21.) The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy.

22.) It will, however, make cats dizzy.

23.) Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy.

24.) 80% of Women will pass this on to almost all of their friends, with or without kids.

25.) 80% of Men who read this will try mixing the Clorox and brake fluid
.
