Why Homosexuality Should Be Banned

Stop babysitting neighbors' kids!

My Two Cents: I find this to be COMPLETELY ridiculous!! Seriously I understand why they put that law into effect, but they need to change it now so that it does not effect neighbors trying to help each other!

"Each day before the school bus comes to pick up the neighborhood's children, Lisa Snyder did a favor for three of her fellow moms, welcoming their children into her home for about an hour before they left for school.

Regulators who oversee child care, however, don't see it as charity. Days after the start of the new school year, Snyder received a letter from the Michigan Department of Human Services warning her that if she continued, she'd be violating a law aimed at the operators of unlicensed day care centers.

"I was freaked out. I was blown away," she said. "I got on the phone immediately, called my husband, then I called all the girls" — that is, the mothers whose kids she watches — "every one of them."

Snyder's predicament has led to a debate in Michigan about whether a law that says no one may care for unrelated children in their home for more than four weeks each calendar year unless they are licensed day-care providers needs to be changed. It also has irked parents who say they depend on such friendly offers to help them balance work and family.

On Tuesday, agency Director Ismael Ahmed said good neighbors should be allowed to help each other ensure their children are safe. Gov. Jennifer Granholm instructed Ahmed to work with the state Legislature to change the law, he said.

"Being a good neighbor means helping your neighbors who are in need," Ahmed said in a written statement. "This could be as simple as providing a cup of sugar, monitoring their house while they're on vacation or making sure their children are safe while they wait for the school bus."

Snyder learned that the agency was responding to a neighbor's complaint.

Granholm spokeswoman Liz Boyd said the agency was following standard procedure in its response. "But we feel this (law) really gets in the way of common sense," Boyd said.

"We want to protect kids, but the law needs to be reasonable," she said. "When the governor learned of this, she acted quickly and called the director personally to ask him to intervene."

The Swine Flu and no shaking hands!

Today at Cameron's graduation ceremony from the 6th grade, the Principal was telling us how the whole presentation would go and she let us know that she would not be shaking hands with each child as she gave them their awards because of the Swine Flu. That they have been asked by the district not to shake hands because if she does shake hands with every child by the time she gets to the last kid they will have shaken hands with everyone therefore spreading lots of germs.

How do YOU feel about this? Are YOU worried about the Swine Flu?

I personally think this is crap and that we have lived this long why are we so overly concerned with germs. I mean I do understand the need to be clean and all, but I think this pushes the envelope. After all if we try to shelter ourselves from all germs we will never build up an immunity to those that can really harm us imo.

Idiots like this do NOT make me proud to be a Texan!

On Tuesday, State Rep. Betty Brown (R) caused a firestorm during House testimony on voter identification legislation when she said that Asian-Americans should change their names because they’re too hard to pronounce:

Rather than everyone here having to learn Chinese — I understand it’s a rather difficult language — do you think that it would behoove you and your citizens to adopt a name that we could deal with more readily here?” Brown said.

Brown later told [Organization of Chinese Americans representative Ramey] Ko: “Can’t you see that this is something that would make it a lot easier for you and the people who are poll workers if you could adopt a name just for identification purposes that’s easier for Americans to deal with?”

Yesterday, Brown continued to resist calls to apologize. Her spokesman said that Democrats “want this to just be about race.”

Mom heads for Fort Benning with kids

I find this disturbing and I realize I may not be part of the majority but seriously.......what do they expect a woman to do in this situation? In my honest opinion this is BS she has been honorably discharged and has two small children with no one to look after them she cannot just leave them alone what do they want her to do? I feel for the military, but if they have excused 7,500 others according to the article I certainly hope they excuse her as well! IMO this is as good an "excuse" as any other!!

A North Carolina woman who was recalled to the Army four years after being honorably discharged was driving nearly 400 miles and braving a Southeastern winter storm to report for duty Sunday, with her children by her side.

Lisa Pagan was en route to Fort Benning, despite the snow, and said in a phone interview she hoped to reach the Georgia post by early evening.

"I know I'm on my way doing what I need to do," Pagan said. "But I'm a little nervous."

Pagan said she wasn't expected at Fort Benning at a specific time, other than to get there by the end of the day. She said road conditions weren't too bad, but the weather had slowed her down.

Pagan is among thousands of former service members who have left active duty since the Sept. 11 attacks, only to be recalled to service. She filed several appeals, arguing that because her husband travels for business, no one else can take care of her kids. All were rejected, leaving Pagan to choose between deploying to Iraq and abandoning her family, or refusing her orders and potentially facing charges.

Master Sgt. Keith O'Donnell, an Army spokesman in St. Louis, said earlier that the commander at Fort Benning will decide how to handle the situation.

"The Army tries to look at the whole picture and they definitely don't want to do anything that jeopardizes the family or jeopardizes the children," O'Donnell said. "At the same time, these are individuals who made obligations and commitments to the country."

Of the 25,000 individual ready reserve troops recalled since September 2001, more than 7,500 have been granted deferments or exemptions, O'Donnell said. About 1,000 have failed to report. O'Donnell most of those cases are still under investigation, while 360 soldiers have been separated from the Army either through "other than honorable" discharges or general discharges.

O'Donnell said Pagan isn't likely to face charges, since none of the individual ready reserve soldiers who have failed to report faced a court-martial.

Pagan's husband, Travis, is staying behind in their home in Davidson to continue his job.

"He's very supportive. He feels the same way I do," Pagan said. "He never thought I would be called back to begin with."

She said she has reserved a motel room for a week and didn't plan to stay in the barracks.

"I don't plan on them leaving my side once I'm there," she said of her kids. "Them being away from me is not an option."

Really are they serious?

Obesity ‘Virus’ Spreads Like Common Cold, Scientists Say

"Obesity can be “caught” as easily as a common cold from other people’s coughs, sneezes and dirty hands, scientists said Monday.

The condition has been linked to a highly-infectious virus which causes sniffles and sore throats.

Nikhil Dhurandhar, an associate professor at The Pennington Biomedical Research Center, in Baton Rouge, La., said the virus, known as AD-36, infects the lungs then whisks around the body, forcing fat cells to multiply and also causing sore throats.

“When this virus goes to fat tissue it replicates, making more copies of itself and in the process increases the number of new fat cells, which may explain why the fat tissue expands and why people get fat when they are infected with this virus,” Dhurandhar said."

Here is my two cents you can take it or leave it!!
Ok so many different things entered my brain when I read this article that I cannot even begin to list them all. So let's just start with a few. I cannot see how Obesity can be a virus maybe it is socially contagious, but NOT a virus!! Seriously if it is than why isn't every person in the world HUGE!! I also feel that this is yet another way to give people "an out" or an excuse so that they do not have to take responsibility for their own actions or god forbid have self control. They can just blame it on the Obesity virus!
