Wrapped Emotions Week 4

The Prompt:
"During this holiday season this is what I wish for you. Whether you observe Christmas, Hanukkah, another religious holiday or simply the beauty and goodwill of the season, slow down and be fully in every moment. Perhaps in doing so, the vow will carry over into the New Year; perhaps you'll learn to do less and feel more. Let's try. For the remaining weeks of December this is your prompt. More specifically, do not plan any special project for Wrapped Emotions. No one needs one more project this time of year. Simply experience and enjoy your life this season and post to your blog as you will. Each week choose your favorite post or photo and link the URL here at Wrapped Emotions. I'll put up a new Mr. Linky each week (Week One, Two, Three and Four). We'll then visit one another and spread the love."

My favorite moment this week:
Would have to be visiting the Trail of Lights here in town. My only advice would be to not go on the last night as it seems the whole town was there! lol Here are some pictures from that night! :)
The big tree
One of the light tunnels
One of the firepits

Painted Glass Vase

So on to the very last teacher gift project of the Christmas season! My son did this himself with really no help from me except to buy him the supplies!

CRAFT MATERIALS:
Clean, empty jar
Acrylic or liquid tempera paints
Paintbrushes or cotton swabs
White glue
Clear glaze (available at craft stores)

Instructions:
1. To make the paints stick to the glass, first mix the colors with some glue. Keep the paint thick so it won't run.

2. Use brushes or cotton swabs to paint a design on the jar. To erase a mistake, use a paper towel to wipe off the paint before it hardens.

3. Let the paint dry, then seal the finished design with a coat of glaze.

I got the idea from the Familyfun website!!

The letter "P"

Today's Alphabet Soup is brought to you by the Letter P.

Here are some things that begin with the letter "P" that bring me happiness, joy or that bring some much needed humor to my life!

Parties: Gosh this month has been made up of lots of parties! Between the birthdays and the class parties for Christmas I am burnt out!

Pigs: I have a stuffed pig that I sleep with every night and Princess has followed in my footsteps. She loves her stuffed pigs and has an assortment of them in her bed of all sizes!

Popcorn: I love the holiday tins of popcorn they have out this time of year! :)

Presents: Buying all the presents for Christmas and for birthdays this time of year is really lots of fun, it's the crowds I do not enjoy!

Pajama's: I would live in PJ's if I could get away with it! I have many different types of pajama bottoms and love each one of them. They are sooo comfy and soft! lol

The costume!

This week's Tackle it is going to be Aubrey's costume from her play. It was really pretty easy to put together and the teachers made sure to tell us not to spend much on the costumes so here is what I did to make her a Teddy Bear!

The headband before:
and after with the ears:
They were really easy to make! I just wrapped the headband in dark brown felt and hot glued it on. Then I cut out the pieces of felt for the ears and cut a piece of cardboard from a toilet paper roll to fit so that the ears would stand up! Then hot glued the ears to the headband!

The Hood and shower puff tail before:
and after it was all attached:
I simply sewed the shower puff very loosely to the back of the hooded sweater to make the tail!

add a pair of black gloves and here is the finished project!

A Decorative Holiday Doorstop!

I know the doorstop is hard to make out in this picture, it was to show how it looks in relation to the door!

A few days ago I posted the Hungry Alligator done by my youngest and I:

Here is the second teacher craft of the season done by Princess who is seven and I. We had a great time and although it is really RED and awfully tacky I hope her teacher will like it! lol

CRAFT MATERIALS:
Newspaper
Brick with holes in it
Scissors
Felt
Tacky glue
Modeling clay
Miniature decorations
Craft wire
Toothpicks

Instructions:
1. Cover the work surface with newspaper to keep the brick from scratching it. Then cut out a piece of felt to fit the bottom of the brick and glue it on.

2. Fill the holes of the brick with balls of clay. Then arrange the decorations any way you like, sticking the bottom of each item to the clay. If necessary, use craft wire to attach a toothpick to certain items and then insert the toothpick into the clay.

I got the idea from the Familyfun website!!

The Hungry Alligator!

*The above pictures are our finished project not taken from a website*

My youngest daughter and I did this craft tonight to give to her teacher as a Christmas gift! It was really easy and cheap to make and only took about 30mins from start to finish. I recommend you use Hot glue instead of Tacky glue and be careful to not melt the green scrubby. I used the Tacky glue first, but the teeth kept falling out. lol

CRAFT MATERIALS:
Two new green kitchen scrub pads
Scissors
Red felt
White felt
Tacky glue (I think hot glue should be used if you have it)
Googly eyes
Green pom-poms
Black pom-pom
Green rickrack

Instructions:
1. Start by trimming two new green kitchen scrub pads into elongated pocket shapes. Then cut two similar shapes from red felt. From white felt, cut triangular teeth and use tacky glue to stick several to the rounded edge of each scrub pad. Glue a red felt piece atop each scrub pad, covering the bases of the felt teeth.

2. Next, stack the scrub pads with the red felt pieces face-to-face. Glue all along the straight edges but leave the rounded, toothy edges unglued to create the alligator's open mouth.

3. To make the gator's face, glue googly eyes onto green pom-poms, then glue the pom-poms to the top of the head. Finally, affix green rickrack ridges and black pom-pom nostrils atop his snout, and your reptile is ready for the first course of writing utensils.

I got the idea from the Familyfun website!!

The letter "O"

Today's Alphabet Soup is brought to you by the Letter O.

Here are some things that begin with the letter "O" that bring me happiness, joy or that bring some much needed humor to my life!

Oxygen: This one is the first one I thought of cause we have to have oxygen to live!!!

Ornaments: Christmas is here so of course this means I am swimming in Christmas decorations and ornaments for the tree! I am excited Christmas is one of my favorite holidays so I am not complaining at all! Here is a picture of my favorite ornaments they came from my childhood!

October: I love the month of October for so many different reasons! Halloween is my all time favorite holiday and we have so many important birthdays in October I could not leave it out!

Orchids: These are my favorite flower! Although I really never see these flowers in person I love them just the same and could not resist adding this to my list!

Optometrist: OMG my glasses broke right before Thanksgiving and things have just not been right since!! I received my new glasses the day before Thanksgiving and boy was I thankful to not have to cook blind or in my super glued glasses!! They seemed to fit fine, but then I realized the right side was much closer to my eye than the left side. So I took them to the doc to have them readjusted which they did no problem. I have now been back 3times since then it has only been about 3weeks. Ok so I am thinking there is no way I will have to have them adjusted every week is there? Jezzzzz I HATE plastic frames and the fact that I could not afford the metal frames!! UGH!

My cluttered fireplace!

This week's Tackle It Tuesday is going to be my fireplace!! With the holidays I am trying to get my house organized and clutter free so the next logical step from last week is to tackle the fireplace. Since the fireplace is next to my desk it just gathers things kind of like my desk! lol

Here is the before:

and here is the after:

Find out more about Tackle It Tuesday here.
