Homemade Present Ornanment made out of felt!

We did this craft today and we all had a lot of fun! I actually managed all four kids by myself to do this craft so I give it an A+!

It is usually much harder for me to keep all of them interested, so this was great! My best advice is to pre-cut the pieces and make sure to have lots of available choices when it comes to colors and sizes!

What you'll need:

  • Red, white, and green felt (We used several other colors also)
  • 10” strand yarn any color you would like
  • White craft glue or Tacky glue
  • Hot glue to attach the yarn to the back of the ornament
  • Scissors
  • Small pre-made bows (ours were green, red and white)

How to make it:

  1. Cut a square or rectangle from a piece of any color felt.
  2. Cut two strips from any color felt, they should equal the length and height of the pre-cut square or rectangle.
  3. Glue the felt strips to the felt square or rectangle to resemble a Christmas present ribbon.
  4. Use the small pre-made bows or cut a “bow” from white felt--a simple flower shape will work!
  5. Glue the bow to the top of the present.
  6. Fold the yarn in half to create a loop and hot glue to the back of the present.
  7. Allow to dry completely.

Tips:

  • For very small children you can cut the pieces ahead of time. ***This is an awesome tip for those of use with multiple children or younger children! I have four ages 4yrs-11yrs and this made it MUCH easier!!***
  • Very Kid friendly except for the hot glue part!
  • Children can use any colors that they choose to create their presents.
  • Ribbon can be substituted for the yarn and craft foam can be used in place of the felt.
